About us

BuscaFins was established by Pieter Bartlema (1984), a windsurfing aficionado from the Netherlands. He started windsurfing at the age of 14, and became addicted to the sport soon thereafter. After graduating from high-school, he spent 7 months travelling through Europe in his windsurfing van. Amongst others, he spent around 5 months in windsurfing Valhalla Tarifa (Spain) and here he got really hooked on to the sport. Nowadays, he is frequently seen at popular spots such as Scheveningen (near his home town Den Haag) and the Grevelingen. Whilst he has been active in various other windsurfing disciplines, he personally favours Formula windsurfing.

Pieter holds a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from TH Rijswijk in the Netherlands. Over the years, he has developed a keen interest in the design of windsurfing boards and sails and, in particular, fins. In the last few years, he has designed and produced his own line of Formula and Slalom fins. As a design engineer and a fanatic windsurfer, he is able to supplement his theoretical insights with the experience of the practitioner. BuscaFins are designed with the help of state-of-the-art technology and then all prototypes are tested rigorously pairwise with the help of top windsurfers like Dennis Littel (NED 13) and Casper Bouman (NED 52).
